                   Early Detection can save your life.

                 Early Detection Works Services:

                       Free Breast Cancer Screenings

Annual clinical breast exams performed by a nurse or physician.

Annual mammograms for women age 50-64

bullet

Annual mammograms for women age 40-49 if

bullet

~they have a personal history of cancer or

bullet

~They have a Mother, Daughter, or Sister with a history of  breast cancer or

bullet

~A lump is found by the clinician performing the breast exam.

                      Free Cervical Cancer Screenings

Annual pelvic exams and pap tests for women age 40-64

bullet

After 3 years in a row of normal Pap Tests the program pays for screening every three years.

                                          Am I eligible ?

The Early Detection Works program pays for breast and cervical cancer screenings for Kansas women who:

Are 40-64 years of age

bullet

Do not have health insurance or have insurance with high unmet deductibles. (women who have Medicare part B or Medicaid/Medikan are not eligible)

                   WHAT IF SOMETHING IS FOUND ?

If one of your tests shows a problem, the clinician performing the breast exam will explain it to you and the Early Detection Works program will pay for other tests needed to make a diagnosis. The nurse will arrange these appointments for you.

                  WHAT IF I NEED TREATMENT ?

Women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer or pre-cancerous conditions of the breast or cervix will be referred to SRS for Medicaid coverage under the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Act of 2000.  This special treatment ACT covers women who would not otherwise be eligible for Medicaid.
